Harmony on the beach – a pre-wedding family shoot
The Davies Family (pre-wedding) Shoot
I met Georgina and Josh and their beautiful daughter Phoebe at Southerndown beach, South Wales in early Summer for a family photo shoot which also combined as their pre-wedding engagement shoot – I call them Harmony Sessions. It was a great chance to get to know them, put them at ease and make them feel amazing about their experience on camera, before the wedding itself.
Southerndown is a village in South Wales toLlantwit Major and Ogmore-by-Sea. It is mostly known for its beach (officially named Dunraven bay). When the tide is out there is an expanse of sand and fun rock pools. The cliffs are give a stunning display of sedimentary rock and the backdrop is amazing for photographs which is why I am often bringing couples here for shoots. On the headland are the remains of Dunraven Castle which provides another opportunity for a less-sandy photoshoot.
The afternoon was relaxed and fun – with Phoebe leading the way and setting the pace – no boring white backdrops and hot studio lights. Definitely no having to sit-still allowed. This was all about running, fun, tickles, kisses, sand in between the toes, splashing and gazing out to sea. Phoebe was a delight to photograph and it was fun to capture her energy and curiosity as well as the natural love and warmth of their little family.
