Monmouth Wedding Photography – A Christmas Wedding

A beautiful Christmas Wedding in Monmouth | Steph and Will

Steph and Will contacted me after they saw another wedding I shot in Monmouth, a year previously and had loved the photographs. We discussed their Monmouth Wedding Photography in detail and it was clear they wanted the beauty of Monmouth at Christmas time to shine through. They were also keen to have a Harmony Session with me so that they could get used to being photographed professionally. For their wedding they wanted completely unobtrusive wedding photography with no ‘shouty’ photographer taking over things, which is always music to my ears. They wanted minimal groups shots and lots of natural shots, as they happened. Of course, being a December wedding it was dark within 1/2 hour of the ceremony ending so it was important that they booked a photographer comfortable using flash and working with low light.

The day began at The Punch House in Agincourt Square, where Steph and her bridesmaids were getting ready. It was lovely to be serenaded by carol singers outside as the rest of Monmouth did their last minute Christmas shopping. They strolled to the nearby St Mary’s Priory Church, on Monk Street, for the ceremony. I love the cobbled streets all beautifully decorated with lights and lovely festive displays in the windows. The choices for bridesmaids dresses were perfect, festive and elegant. The beautiful warm greys toned so well with the dusky reds of the bouquets. After a lovely heartfelt ceremony guests made their way back to Agincourt Square to the Shire Hall for the rest of the celebrations. Steph and Will walked slowly back, allowing us a few minutes to capture some photographs of them together; the sun was setting quickly and there was beautiful warm glow for awhile before receding to darkness. The Shire Hall is a gorgeous old building and it was packed with guests, we had a few minutes for some family groups before everyone was called into the old Court room for the speeches. It was such a novel place to have them and I took a spot in the gallery, so as to be completely unnoticed. After their food we snuck away for a fresh walk outside to see the lights of Monmouth on Monnow street, shooting some incredibly creative festive photographs.
