The Wedding of Lisa and Brett at Margam Orangery | Swansea

I first met Lisa for her secret boudoir shoot which was to be her present for Brett on the morning of their wedding at Margam Orangery. I was joined for the day by Justin Harris who is an incredible photographer and it was a true pleasure to have his skills second shooting on the day. Our styles are very different, however also complementary and together we worked our magic. The photographs in this blog are a mixture of both.

Margam Orangery is a simply remarkable wedding venue, one of the best in South Wales. It has an understated magnificence which lends itself to all kinds of looks and feels. In the morning I joined Lisa in the cottage next door to the Orangery and Justin joined Brett at their home.

The day was full of emotion and surprises; the highlight of my morning with Lisa being when she announced to her Mum that she was expecting a baby! It was so wonderful to see those natural raw emotions and capture such an intimate moment. We kept the secret all day until it was later announced to all the guests during the speeches; cue more tears and amazement! Meanwhile at Brett’s house there were wet-shaves and swigs from hip flasks, as well as Brett being given the boudoir album to look through before the wedding – which sent pulses racing 😉

The light in Margam Orangery is just perfect – it fills the room entirely making it an absolutely perfect venue for wedding photography. The civil ceremony was full of personal touches and readings and it was clear how important a celebration it was for everyone there. After the ceremony we wandered up to the 19th Century Tudor Gothic Mansion, Margam Castl, which was designed by the architect Thomas Hopper for Christopher Rice Mansel Talbot.

Guests enjoyed the ice-cream van and popcorn machine before the reception began. There was not a dry eye in the house during the speeches which were heartfelt, unscripted and perfect. As the sunset, they caught their breath in a final private photo session before entertaining their guests with an incredible first dance to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. After an incredible day, Brett enjoyed a cigar with friends as the sun went down.
